We arrived at Mataranka in the late afternoon and whilst Boyd put up the tent Lisa and the kids walked to Bitter Springs, a thermal stream that maintains a constant temperature of 32 degrees Celsius. It is surrounded by lilys, reeds and palms. Imogen floated down the stream for about 200 metres on her noodle and the boys played near the steps with 4 boys (3 of them Aboriginal) who had just travelled the Canning Stock Route with their foster parents. They were also delightful and willing to share their enjoyment of the springs. Lisa’s interest in all things Aboriginal continues to grow and she is keen to learn more when she returns home.
