Fowlers Bay 9th - 11th July

Fowlers Bay was a great surprise.
We had very little knowledge about what was there. We approached late in the afternoon and the last 30 mins were on unsealed road. On arrival we found Fowlers Bay to be a caravan park, a few houses and a kiosk. We set up our tent in between the myriad of caravans. There was no grass and little vegetation in the caravan park. Our neighbours who were on holiday from Adelaide, had a four year old daughter, Jasmine, who immediately befriended Jasper. Next to them was Jett and Bailey, 7 and 9 year old boys from Perth, who had ventured across the Nullarbor with their grandparents. During our two days there they too befriended Jasper. Archie, as well, benefited from their friendship and both boys played with their new friends for hours in the adjacent park.
Overlooking the caravan park were amazing sand dunes. We spent a morning walking, rolling, dancing  and sliding amongst these dunes. After our disappointment not being able to get to Point Labbatt to see the sealions we were lucky to see a single sealion frollicking in the water near the pier adjacent to our campsite. At night many of the travellers would congregate around a large communal campfire to share stories whilst the children toasted marshmallows. We left Fowlers Bay after two nights refreshed and ready to tackle the Nullarbor.
